Hot Fixes & Service Packs

What is a Hot Fix?:
Progea distributes free updates for current versions of Movicon through Service Packs and Hot Fixes.  A Service Pack is a minor version update of Movicon as a setup of a Movicon executable file and related resource files.  Hot Fixes are a package of zipped files that have to be substituted in order to urgently update a Movicon version. These files are upgraded to provide bug fixes and necessary enhancements. Improvements are only included to enhance Movicon debugging.  Progea releases a new Build or a Service Pack only when an already existing problem cannot be solved effectively. Most new features or enhancements are usually included in successive Movicon versions after standard beta-testing procedures have been carried out.

When should a Hot Fix be installed?:
Movicon always includes bugbase on line documentation, a complete list containing all of the information and reasons why changes have been made, bugs fixed or improvements made to released builds. It is recommended that you read the bugbase before installing an update (access reserved for Customers only. Please contact us for a password if you have not received one yet) to check whether the problem you are experiencing has been fixed. If you find that your problem has been fixed, you should then apply the Hot Fix.
Remember that Hot Fixes are not official releases and should be installed when absolutely necessary and under the control of your Support Reference. Otherwise it would be best to wait for the next official release which always includes all Hot Fixes.

  • Please refer to the Bugbase for more info about Hot Fixes where available. Note that not all Hot Fixes may be found in the Bugbase section due to being deleted after official releases have been made.

How do I uninstall a Hot Fix?
A Movicon Hot Fix  substitutes the necessary core Movicon system files. The only way to restore the original version is to uninstall Movicon using the relevant command from the Windows Control Panel. After having done this, you can then go ahead and reinstall your original Movicon version from your CD ROM.

How do I tell which Movicon Version or Build I have installed?
Movicon is built with version information. This is shown on the splash screens and in the About box in the Information menu.
The About box gives you information on the version, Build and the Service Pack number. For instance, if  the About box shows: Movicon 11.2.1084 SP1, the first two digits refer to the Movicon version purchased, the following three digits refer to the installed Build and at last digits refer to the Service Pack number.
