What’s new in Movicon 11.1
The new version of Movicon 11.1 introduces a series of important new features, making the Movicon platform even more powerful and innovative than before.
The product upgrade is free and compatible with previous versions. Moreover, the new version is installed in a different folder enabling user to keep their previous versions intact.

Toolbox: New Alarm Banner objects.
A new graphical object has been added to the toolbox representing an alarm display banner with Scroll (rotating) in automatic or manual and two filter by modes: ‘Show in order of activation date’ and ‘show in order of highest severity’.
Toolbox: New Recipe Window objects.
A new object has been made available for managing recipe object graphics. This new object allows you to display recipe data in grid mode so that names and data descriptions, values and measures can be shown. The new object’s buttons consent you to scroll values in the usual way and other functions, such as copy&paste, import-export to CSV files, have been integrated to compliment the already recipe operating commands.
This object can be used on screen with other correlated objects as an alternative to the recipe creation Wizard which still remains the same.
Alarm Management
The alarm management has been enhanced with the following new functions:
- New conditions for generating alarms: “<>” and “between”
- Option to request comment on Alarm ACK (Audit Trail)
- New members in system variable to provide total number of active alarms ON and OFF
- New command for allowing user to insert a comment in association to each specified alarm
Audit Trail
The Trace/Audit management has been enhanced to allow user to force comments (Tracing) from network Client as well, recording audits on central server. In addition, the Audit management is now available both for variable value change and alarm acknowledgement (ACK) comments. However, this management is not available with Web Client.
Public Symbols
Many new features and improvements have been added to the public symbols management, making symbol heredities (Templates) clearer and easier to follow through.
The public symbols can now be modified with immediate effect in design mode as well (not only in runtime as before). A “DisablePublicSymOnDesign” registry key has been provided for those who prefer to keep symbol behaviour as it was.
Property window fields can now be made visible/invisible according to the “preserve…” options provided.
Refreshes can be carried out to symbols composed with many components and sub symbols.
Public Symbols can now be refreshed with the “Refresh” command right through the project and/or just in the selected screen.
ODBC Manager
The following new features have been added to improve ODBC connections with the Movicon ODBC Manager:
Plug-In (expandable) for creating ODBC connections: MS Access (default), My SQL, Oracle Express, SQL Server (2000, 2005, 2008), SQL Express (2005 and 2008).
Option provided to define default Plug-in (value memorized in project). Now possible to set connection parameters (Win32 platform only).
Reports
Various Report management Improvements which include new parameters for “Safe” commands allowing ‘Reference Period’, ‘Select Date’ and ‘Export Format’ selections.
Plus option added to Report Designer for getting parameters.
Graphics and Antialiasing
The following new functionalities have been added to the graphics management:
-New option to Antialias Screens improving graphics rendering of the vectorial editor
-New “Blink” function added with different speeds for graphically animating object visibility
-Option added to import vector files containing bitmap images
-Options added to multi-select and import graphical objects, plus option to set multi-selected object color threshold, text and bitmap properties all at the same time.
Object Settings File
Two new options have been added: ‘Auto load file settings’ and ‘Auto Save file setting’. These two options, linked to a valid settings file, allow object statuses to be saved when unloading from memory to be reloaded afterwards when needed.
Design: Screen Navigation
A space has been left on the screen used by the Screen Navigation Editor in Design Mode to indicate where the Screen navigation toolbar will be situated when created automatically in runtime.
Design: Variables and Strings
The new Movicon release comes with enhanced editor management which includes new tools to improve programming, such as:
-New Filter management in Text Editor visualization (strings)
- New selection Filters for the Tag Browser window to filter by name, description and dynamics
-New and very efficient tools for Variable and String Import/Export towards Excel.
Layout set for the variable editor window now gets memorized upon closing Movicon.
Editor: Other improvements
Other new features and improvements available in the Movicon 11.1 editor are:
-Symbol Library made simpler to use and path used for saving symbols has been modified (now customizable)
-‘Dynamic Property Inspector’ improved usability where variable descriptions can now be viewed as part of this window’s information.
-Addition commands to toolbar: Bring to front/back and commands for Variable and String editor
-possibility to Drag&Drop screen resources to embedded screen objects
-Command added for resetting workspace window position (beforehand done with CTRL at startup)
Basic Script
The VBA Basic Script management has been improved with:
UserAndGroupCmdTarget: possibility to retrieve runtime user and user group lists.
TrendCmdTarget: possibility to change Trend pen styles and columns linked to pens.
DLRCmdTarget and PmeDocCmdTarget: possibility to find out whether a data logger or historical log is set with IMDB.
Objects: possibility to load and save configuration files (only possible in Trends beforehand). New “OnPreSymbolLoading” event.
Windows CE: Help now reports Windows CE restrictions for each function if any.
What’s new in Web Client
The new 11.1 version introduces considerable new features in the Web Client management, improving client Web functionality and performances using the Movicon WebClient applet. Great effort has gone into improving performances for slow connections or poor band rate quality (Modem 56K or ISDN).
Password style support via web (managed on Server) has now been added to control access to displays.
Direct native support to IIS7 for publishing web pages in Windows VISTA (no more need to install 11S6 emulation on O.S.).
Minor improvements made to web client usability: There is now a Progress Bar at startup and Log-on and output windows now appear in the central position on Applet.
