What is a Service Pack?

Progea distributes free upgrades for current versions of Movicon through Service Packs and Builds. A Service Pack is a minor version upgrade of Movicon as a setup of a Movicon executable file and related resource files. These files are upgraded to provide bug fixes and necessary enhancements. Improvements are only included to allow more enhanced debugging of Movicon.

Progea releases a new Build or a Service Pack only when the existing problem cannot be solved effectiveily.

Any new features or enhancements are usually included in the next version of Movicon, after the standard beta-testing procedures have been carried out. 

When should I install a Service Pack?

Movicon always includes bugbase documentation, a database containing all of the information and reasons why changes have been made, bugs fixed or improvements made to released builds.

It is recommended that you read the bugbase (access reserved for Registered Users only.  Please contact us for a password if you have not received one yet) to check whether the problem you are experiencing has been fixed.   If you find that your problem has been fixed, you should then apply the Service Pack. Service Packs should not, however, be applied on the premise that they will fix a problem not stated in the bugbase.

How do I install a Service Pack?

When working with Movicon 9.0 or higher versions, you should download the executable file from the website and then double click to run it.  To upgrade from  Movicon 10.0 to Movicon 10.1 you need to get the CdRom with all the complete installation files.

How do I uninstall a Service Pack?

A Movicon Service Pack setup substitutes all the Movicon system files. The only way to restore the original version is to uninstall Movicon using the related command from the Windows Control Panel. After doing this, you can reinstall your original Movicon version from your CD ROM. 

How do I tell which Service Pack I have?

Movicon is built with version information. This is shown on the splash screens and in the About box in the Information menu.

In the About box you can read the installed version information, the Build and the Service Pack number.

For instance, you will see written:   Movicon 9.1.605 SP3

where the first two digits refer to the Movicon version purchased, the following three digits refer to the installed Build and at last digits refer to the Service Pack number.
