The Movicon BA license policy.

Movicon BA offers a flexible and modular licensing model that adapts to your every application need in the most cost-effective way.

Movicon BA offers a Server-Client license model based on the number of Tags exchanged with the field (expressed in I/O bytes).  In addition, some features are optional and can be purchased when only  needed.

The schema below shows the license modularity concepts:

Editor (Design Environment)

The Editor license allows you to create any type of Movicon Building Automation project with access entitlement to first level technical support.

Runtime I/O Byte size

Movicon 11 runtime licenses are modular, based on the number of  I/O bytes (mapped to Variables) exchanged with the field. Each byte corresponds to 8 bits of any variable “connected to the field”. Variables in bit, byte, word, float and double/long 64 bit type, as well as structures or arrays, can also be declared. Individual bits in byte, word and other Variable types can be pointed to.
However, the total amount of bytes exchanged simultaneously with the field will determine the size of the license.

  • Note: the license only counts those variables in use and exchanged with the field and not internal variables.
  • Note: bit data types will always be counted as bytes in Structure variable types.

For instance, if your project needs to exchange 2000 connected 16  bit analog I/O variables with the field, you will need to get a RT4096 I/O byte Runtime license.

Runtime License types

To facilitate choosing the right license, the Run-Time licenses are offered in Server, Client, and Client/Server versions.

  1. Server: I/O Server, PLC Drivers, Alarm Manager, local HMI, Data Loggers
  2. Client: network client station
  3. Web Client option: option on the server to access via Web Client (Java Applet or APPs)
