I have a CPU SIEMENS 314c 2dp and some slaves on profibus, i`d add 2 touch panel VIPA with Movicon; i dont understand which is the right driver to insert in my Movicon project to comunicate with this CPU (via PROFIBUS); then i would like to import some DB of my S7 project in Movicon project.
    Thanks

    Hi ALEB2,

You have two possible ways to work:

1- Using the Driver that you can find in the VIPA folder ‘Vipa Profibus DP Slave’: with this Driver you can connect your panels to the PLC with a Profibus cable. Anyway, you need a PLC with an integrated PROFIBUS interface. Moreover, this Driver, it is designed to communicate to a PROFIBUS DP Master, so Movicon will can be only a Slave, and your PLC configured as Master.

2- Using the Driver that you can find in the VIPA folder ‘Vipa Embedded MPI’: with this Driver you can connect your panels to the PLC with an MPI cable.

Regarding the question about the import of the Tags, I confirm that only with the Driver ‘Vipa Embedded MPI’ you can import your file exported from the Step7. For any other informations abut you can read the chapter ‘Direct tags import from PLC’ of the Driver’s Help.

    Best Regards

I used VPI MPI embedded driver, panel (VIPA touch screen) works  but i can’t go  online with PC anymore; only  if i switch off runtime on the  panel i can return online. It seems  that VIPA panel takes PG resource instead of OP resource???

    Hi Aleb2,

it could be a problem related to the use of the communication channel of the PLC. Maybe you know that Vipa PLC can communicate on three kind of channel, PG, TG and OP.
In your case, I can advice to check with the development environment which channels are actually used by the PLC and which channels are free and then try to change in Movicon the Device ID of the Station (Default = 2 to use OP channel).

    Best Regards

I try both ways and it worked for me and I must say you have great experience in this field and that’s why you share with us. The complete coursework for me also provide a few extra tips and these tips are way better for me to implement more on my work.
