    The error occurred when opening the program in Windows 8, the 64-bit version.

    The version I work with is 2000

    The message that you posted is very generic so, unfortunately, not helpful to understand the possible cause.
    A system hang can depend on several factors also that can not be attributed directly to Movicon.
    An installation issue, a wrong application settings, a versioning issue.

    As a first check I can suggest to re-install the software according to this procedure (on the PC); It does not take so much time, often this solve this kind of problems and at least in this way, we are sure to have the PC environment configured correctly.

    1. Uninstall Movicon 11
    2. Uninstall ‘Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable rel 8.0.61001’
    3. Delete from the regedit the folder ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Progea Automation 11.x’
    4. Set UAC (control panel > User Accounts > Change user account control settings)
    5. Restart the PC.
    6. Run the Movicon installation using an Admin User and with the ‘Run as Administrator’ option (use teh same version used to design teh application)
    7 . Install ‘Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable rel 8.0.61001’ always using an Admin User and with the ‘Run as Administrator’ option
    The setup file are located on setup folder (…\ISSetupPrerequisites\{c1c4f01781cc94c4c8fb1542c0981a2a}\vcredist_x86.exe).
